Posted: August 30th, 2012Mr. James “Jim” Hausauer, passed away on Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 at the age of 81 years after a brave and courageous battle against cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Evelyn. Jim also leaves to cherish his memory two children: daughter, Jocelyn (Bruce) Macaulay of Fayetteville NC; son, Rodney “Rod” (Debbie) Hausauer of Grande Prairie AB; grandchildren: Chandra Macaulay (Eric Warren) of Medicine Hat; Craig (Sara) Macaulay and their daughter, Ella of Kingston ON; Amy (Jay) Showalter and their son, Brody; Scott (Jessica) Matwiiw and their children, Keira and Kasen; and Michael Matwiiw and daughter, Bridget, all of Grande Prairie AB; two sisters: Frances (Harvey) Good; and Sophie Wittke both of Medicine Hat; two sisters-in-law: Guila Hausauer of Lethbridge; and Emma Glock of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by was his parents, John and Elizabeth Hausauer; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Eva Glock; two brothers: Carl and Cecil; two sisters-in-law: Emma Glock; and Mary McLeay; four brothers-in-law: Art Wittke; Edwin Glock; Willie Glock; and Frank McLeay. Jim was born on May 27th, 1931 in Irvine, Alberta and attended Irvine School from Grade 1 through Grade 12. He married Evelyn Glock on August 1st, 1954. Jim worked as a surveyor on the original MonAlta Highway 41 south from June 1949 to May 1951. He then worked as a Signal Maintainer with CP Rail until he retired on December 1st, 1986. His job took him to Field BC; Calgary AB; and Medicine Hat. Jim had many friends from the years that he and Evelyn square danced over the past 48 years. He enjoyed travelling to various locations, most of all the trips to visit with his family. He was a friend to many, “Uncle Jimmy” to nieces and nephews, and Mr. H. to many friends. The Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, September 1st, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery.
