1930 – 2012
It is with a great deal of sadness in our hearts that we announce the
sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Virginia Jensen (nee Duncombe) passed away quietly in her sleep on Tuesday,
September 11, 2012 at the age of 82 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 – 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday,
September 14, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Bishop Chris Ward conducting. Burial to
follow at the Taber Memorial Garden. Condolences may be forwarded by

Those left to fondly cherish her memory are her children Larry (Brenda)
Jensen of Taber, Derek (Brenda) Jensen of Lethbridge, Karen Derksen of
Taber, Kendal (Terri) Jensen of Lethbridge; nine grandchildren and sixteen
great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Eddie Duncombe;
sister Marion Duncombe; sisters-in-law Ellen Jensen, Connie Grigor, Darlene
Layton, Shirley Stoltz and Elsie Duncombe; brothers-in-law Ross Jensen and
Bill Stoltz. She will be sadly missed by her good friend and great
granddaughter Cheyenne Gamache.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband of forty nine years, Fred Jensen;
daughter Cheryl Anderson; son-in-law Dave Derksen; daughter-in-law Patricia
Jensen; parents Walter and Katie Duncombe; sister Lillian Keeler; brother
Wallie Duncombe. She was also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law
Nephi and Ivy Jensen; brothers-in-law Dick Layton and Robert Keeler;
sisters-in-law Marion Jensen and Betty Jensen; Fred’s brothers Walter, Roy
and Marion Jensen.
Virginia was born March 12, 1930, second child to Walter and Katie
Duncombe. On September 19, 1947 she married her companion for life, Fred
Jensen and moved to Fincastle where they farmed for their entire married
life. Virginia loved everything about the farm including working fields and
working with the cattle. Nine years after Fred’s passing, Virginia left the
family farm and moved to Taber where she lived until her passing.
She enjoyed family gatherings, especially Christmas, sneaking around the
house with a flashlight with her grandchildren to check out the presents
under the tree. Bowling was a large part of her life and won several
trophys. She was a long time member of the TOP’s club where she also
received her KOP’s and had made many friends in the club throughout the
years. Virginia was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and really
enjoyed the Friday night meat draws. She worked in the LDS Church Library
for many years.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
