NOLIN

Helen Nolin of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Joseph “Pat” Nolin. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Robert (Judy) Nolin and Carol (Dennis) Granger; six grandchildren, Julie (Craig) and their children, Nicholas and Benjamin, Jill (Rich) and their children, Jordyn and Preston, Nina (Al) and their daughter, Edie, Carly (Mike), Allison (Ryan) and Brett (Andrea); one sister, Sandy “Pinky” (Gordie) Zieffle; one sister-in-law, Bernice Henderson; her special niece, Lucille Bailey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents, Nick and Mary Fakas; her husband, Pat on August 15, 2007 and numerous brothers and sisters.
Helen was born and raised in Medicine Hat. She attended Elm Street School and from there went to work at Medalta Potteries.
On July 10, 1947 she married Pat and they had 2 children. Helen was a wonderful wife and homemaker. She spent many hours in her garden tending all her beautiful flowers and her abundant tomatoes. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her famous noodles; which her children and grandchildren requested whenever they came to visit.
Helen worked in the Dietary Department at the Medicine Hat Hospital for 24 years. She was very well liked and was known for her great sense of humor and hard work ethic.
Helen’s greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pat and Helen spent many years camping with their many friends and family; especially John and Cathy Singh.
Nobody could tell a story like Helen. She loved to entertain us with stories of her childhood, growing up in a family of 10 children.
She regularly had a lot of friends, family and neighbors visiting her. You never left her house without some sort of gift, trinket or a full belly of either a meal or a sweet treat and a coffee or tea. She was a very giving person and always sent visitors away with something, but most of all they left with a smile because of her wonderful generosity and thoughtfulness of others.
Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live in our hearts forever.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
