Mr. Donald Alexander Western, beloved husband of the late Joyce Western, passed away at the Good Samaritan on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the age of 87 years.   Donald was born on August 4, 1925 to Louis and Winnifred Western on the home quarter of NE 22-16-28 W3rd, near Richmound, Saskatchewan. He attended Dunbrody School and proceeded on to Agricultural School at the University of Saskatchewan. On March 31, 1959 he married Joyce Holbrook and they began their life together on the farm at Richmound.  His life centered around farming, family and friends. In 1989, Donald and Joyce retired to Medicine Hat. In his retirement years he enjoyed many hours of fishing, card playing, visiting with friends and enjoying his grandchildren. Donald leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Earl (Kathy) and their children Rachael and Lauryn; and Doug and his son Josh.  He is also survived by two sisters, Elva Bertsch and Amy (Floyd) Brusky and his nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his wife Joyce; his daughter, Karen; his parents and a brother-in-law, Elmer Bertsch.  A Celebration of Donald’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Bob McGougan officiating.  Interment to follow at Prairie View Cemetery.  (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cook southland.com)  If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Donald’s memory may be made to the Good Samaritan Society, South Ridge Village, 550 Spruce Way S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1B 4P1.  Honoured to serve the family is COOK SOUTHLAND Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4V4.   Telephone:  403-527-6455.

    Please accept our heartfelt sympathy on the passing of Donald. I remember going and visiting at your Mom and Dad’s when we used to spend summer vacation at Uncle Elmer and Aunty Elva’s. Just know he is looking down on all of you. Love to all.
