JENNEAN JOY, beloved spouse of Dallas Houghton-Provost of Calgary, formally of the Blood Reserve, passed away peacefully at the Cardston Hospital on Sunday, April 14th, 2013 at the age of 43 years.
Jennean walked into the arms of our precious Saviour Jesus on Sunday with faith & dignity. Jesus opened up his arms and silently took her away.
She leaves to celebrate her memory, her loving spouse Dallas; her sons Cody, Dallas Jr., Dolin; adopted sons Brett, Lewis, Bradley Crow Child & Buddy Healy; her Grandpa Floyd Many Fingers and the late Marjorie Many Fingers; parents Randy & Marjorie Many Fingers; brothers Leon (Ingrid), Jason (Audrey); sister Randi Lynn; mother and father-in-law Roger & Charlina (Dimples) Houghton; brother-in-law Roger Houghton Jr.; sisters-in-law Reena (Adam) Houghton, Labossiere- Rocco Houghton; her nephews Bryce Many Fingers, Cade Healy, Kobe, Tyson, Ryder Day Chief; nieces Sorrel Healy, Tyler Many Fingers, Paige Many Fingers, Shelby Many Fingers, Kahsa Healy and Sienna Day Chief.
Jennean had a passion for dancing at pow wows. One of her accomplishments was to participate by riding in native regalia in the Calgary Stampede Parade and her grandfather Floyd made it possible by letting her ride his pride and joy “Buck”. She was her own seamstress in making her native regalia for herself, nieces and friends. She was an avid athlete in basketball, volleyball and other sports.
Jennean held the Youthman Princess title with great respect, also holding the Native Brother Hood Princess. She was a very compassionate person, she made friends where ever she went. She put off her University to take care of her loving son “Dolin”. Jennean graduated from PICS Education Centre in Calgary and proceeded to the University of Lethbridge enrolling in the Arts and Science program.
She was a very independent, hard working young lady and she knew what she wanted to strive for. She cherished her nieces and nephews and it wasn’t out of the ordinary that her friends children would call her “Auntie”.
She is also survived by five uncles: Hugh Healy, Harvey (Marie Ann) Healy, Floyd (Theda) Healy, Bobby Many Fingers, Rusty (Toby) Many Fingers; Aunties “God Mother” Carol Many Fingers, Jenny Scott, Cynthia (Harrison) Shade, Marion (Stewart) Weasel Moccasin, Louise (Derreck), Carmen (Gilbert) Black Water; Great Aunties Angelia, Charlotte, Sylvia Russell, Irene Tail Feathers, Doreen (George) Little Shields, Mary Singer, Annamae Good Striker and Celina Good Striker; uncles Oliver (late Catherine) Russell, Bruce (Connie) Russell, Grandpa Harold (Jean) Healy.
She was preceded by her grandma Marjorie Many Fingers and Fanny Healy; Great grand parents Louise and John Healy, Iitomowayaka (Mary) and Tom Russell (Cecile); Grandfather Hugh Healy; as well as her cousins Connie and James Healy, Peggy, Darcy and Ivy Garrett; her uncles Lorne, Homer and Gary Healy; her great aunts Josephine Soop, Jenny Melting Tallow, Jane Davis; great uncles Walter and James Russell, Mike, Tom, Edward, Arthur and Stanley Healy, Edward Shot Both Sides – Healy; auntie Ann Many Fingers and Kailey Shade.
A Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, April 19th, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Wake Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Friday, April 19th, 2013 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation. Interment in the Many Fingers’ Family Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
