LAURA LOW VADNAIS, beloved wife of the late Laurier Joseph Vadnais, passed away in Cardston on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the age of 90. She was born June 15, 1922 in Cardston.
She is survived by her children- Joy (Denver) Bevans, Kenneth (Pat) Vadnais, Lavern (Katherine) Vadnais, Bruce (Judy) Vadnais, Gordon (Sandra) Vadnais, Susan (Eugene) Parkins; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Jensen and brother Byron (LaPriel) Low, her brother in law Keith (Alberta) Vadnais; longtime friends Phyllis (Ed) Stapleton and Georgette (Bill) Hricise.
Laura is predeceased by her husband, Laurier Joseph Vadnais, January 5, 2012, her father, Brigham Young Low, December 4, 1984, her mother, Antris Hannah Gedlaman, October 17, 1975 and siblings, Mary Low, Ross Low, and Doug Low.
Laura was a beloved mother and grandmother known for her cookie jar, Easter parties, Christmas dinners and tireless service. She valued education, graduating from Normal School in Calgary, 1939 and began teaching in a one room school at Harrisville where she taught 14 students, grades 2-8. Later she completed her Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge in May 1976. Laura also taught in Aetna, Mountain View, with her longest assignment at Westside School for 11 years as a grade one teacher. She met the love her life, Laurier Vadnais while teaching at Harrisvile and was married January 30, 1943. Laura and Laurier enjoyed 69 years together. Laura was an avid gardener and spent many hours tending to her flower beds and vegetable garden. She enjoyed participating in the yearly Heritage Fair and won many ribbons in multiple categories. Laura enjoyed recreational activities with treasured friends including hiking, badminton, tennis and marathons. She served in the LDS church throughout her life and went on a mission with Laurier to Indianapolis, Indiana from 1988-1989. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and for her positive contributions within her community.
Friends may meet the family at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Sunday, April 21st, 2013, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service.
The Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, on Monday, April 22nd at 11:00 a.m.
