Erich Franz passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the age of 80 years, beloved husband of Diane M. Franz of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, David Franz and Michael Franz; one grandson, Sebastien; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Else and Albert Franz; his step-mother, Lydia Franz; two brothers, Gerhard and Helmut and one sister, Gerda Franz. Erich was born on January 4, 1933 in Karpalat, Bessarabia and immigrated to Canada in 1954, settling in Medicine Hat. He worked as an electrician and on the family farm until starting his own farm in the 1970’s. While farming he met and married Diane. They raised their family and enjoyed 20 years on the farm. In 2003, they retired, sold the farm and moved to town. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNEARL HOME on Saturday from 2:00 – 2:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to remember Erich may do so by planting a tree or donating to the charity of your choice.
