BATEMAN Calvin
Posted: June 1st, 2013MR. CALVIN “CAL” BATEMAN, beloved husband of Mrs. Helene “Babe” Bateman, passed away with his family at his side at The Good Samaritan Society – Prairie Ridge, in Raymond, AB on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the age of 72 years.
He leaves to mourn his wife Helene “Babe”, children Karen (Greg), Shannon (Rene), Wendy, Calvin, Keli and Cheryl; grandchildren Stevie, Rene Jr. (Alisha), Amanda, Shelby (Justin), Josee, Aidan, Jordane, Ethan, Adam (Kayla), and Zak; great-grandchildren Elijah, Isaiah, Arrieanna, and Grayson.
He will also be fondly remembered by his brother Jerry and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Del and Mel Bateman and his “Special Angel” granddaughter, Sharla Collier.
Cal was born in the Old Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, AB.
He was in the floor-laying business in both Lethbridge and Nanaimo B.C., installing for 25 years then selling, until his health forced him to retire.
He was a good man with a quick wit, big laugh, big heart, and many stories to tell.
Cal loved his family, children, grandchildren and all children.
Cal fought a hard battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, living in the Home for 2 years and 3 months.
Cal we love you so much, you are the best, and you will be greatly missed.
Babe and family would like to thank the caregivers at the The Good Samaritan Society – Prairie Ridge Home that took such good care of Cal with their kindness, total trust and support. Each one of you are very special to our family, we love you, and no words can express our gratitude.
Cremation will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home with a Memorial held at a later date.

Babe and family:
We are so sorry to hear of Cal’s recent passing. We will always hold fond memories of him… ie: Cal Jr’s head thru the bars at the Miner’s rings a good bell. May you find comfort with family and friends at this sad time and know our thoughts are with you.

I am grateful to have known Cal since childhood on Vancouver Island and remember him fondly as a kind and helpful man from my youth.
The father of my two favorite ladies Cheryl and Kelly and Brother to one of my closest,( also since childhood), friend in Gerry!
