Posted: August 26th, 2013Ruby Hellen Siggelkow, with family by her side, peacefully changed neighborhoods on Friday, August 23rd, 2013 at the age of 89 years. She is now with her Lord and Savior, walking on streets of gold. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory six children, Glen (Johan) Siggelkow of Lethbridge; Gloria (Bob) Overguard of Rocky Mountain House; Mervyn (Mavis) Siggelkow of High River; Clifford (Anne) Siggelkow of Medicine Hat; Rhonda Siggelkow of Medicine Hat, and Timothy Siggelkow of Burdett, thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; one brother, Earl (Olive) Aspinall of Estevan, Saskatchewan; one sister, Inez (Phil) Siggelkow of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; her sister in-laws Margaret Aspinall of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and Dot Aspinall of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memory one foster daughter, Veronica Skeith and her children. Ruby was predeceased by her parents, William and Ella Aspinall, her husband, John Siggelkow, two brothers, Art and Everton Aspinall; one sister, Lyla (Don) Taylor, and her granddaughter Karyssa Siggelkow. Ruby was born May 27th, 1924 at North Portal, Saskatchewan. In June 1944, she married John Siggelkow, and moved to Pinto, Saskatchewan, where John worked in the coal mine. They spent two years in Moose Jaw, where John attended Bible School, then moved to Outram for John’s third year of Bible School. They built and pastored a church in the Peace River county of Alberta, then moved back to the farm for several years in the North Portal area. They moved to Alberta to purchase the Burdett General Store, which they ran for seventeen years. When they sold the Store, John returned to farming and Ruby looked after foster children until John’s passing in 1980. Ruby then worked for eight years in food services at Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island until retiring in 1999 when she then moved to Medicine Hat. The Funeral Service will be held in FIRST ASSEMBLY OF GOD, 395 – 9th Street SE, on Thursday, August 29th, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Roset officiating.
