He joined the Lethbridge City Police Force in 1951, first walking the beat, then becoming a Detective and later promoted to Detective Sergeant until he retired after 35 years of faithful service to the Police Department. He was very proud of his career as a police officer and gained many friendships throughout his life. While he was still a police officer, he pursued another career as a tree farmer and in 1976 started Green Haven Tree Farm, which is now the well known Green Haven Garden Centre. He was proud to be active in his business with his wife, daughters and son-in-law. He loved to be close to nature and enjoyed working with trees, plants, flowers and especially people. Over 26 years ago, Irvin and Lyla dedicated their lives to the Savior, Jesus Christ. Irvin spent many wonderful years sharing the gospel through guest speaking at functions and witnessing to others. Irvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, true friend and his love of Jesus was shown greatly by his actions and words, “Praise The Lord”.
