BURTON Joshua

Posted: September 19th, 2013

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of JOSHUA ALLAN BURTON, age 23, of Leavitt, Alberta, on Monday, 22 July 2013. While serving his God as a missionary for the LDS church in Coban, Guatemala, Josh received injuries in a vehicle accident. In the days that followed, Josh and his family were sustained by the faith and prayers of so many. Three days after the accident, God called Josh home. Born May 28th, 1990 in Kingston, Ontario, Josh was the second of Allan and Heather Burton’s nine children. Family that survive Josh include his parents, Allan and Heather; his older brother Robert (Naomi, nephew Peter) and younger siblings Denning, Christian, David, Charity, Benson, Aaron, and Gabriel; his grandparents, Victor and Audrey Burton and Clayton and Marilyn Coulson; as well as many dear uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Attested to by all who knew him, Josh loved deeply and served willingly. When the accident occurred, Josh was on his way to help a family move their humble Guatemalan home to a safer location.
For Josh, "life is music," and he spent much of his teenage years playing and composing for the piano. He also avidly participated in Cardston Community Theatre and Carriage House Theatre productions. He continually sought out the very best of what this life has to offer. Josh’s personal motto was "live life to the fullest" and he encouraged everyone around him to make the most of their lives. In memorial of Josh and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the general missionary fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Donations can be made at any LDS church building or by arrangement with the family. For those who wish to know more about the message that Josh sincerely shared as a missionary, please visit mormon.org. We love you and miss you Josh, but know we will be reunited as an eternal family. The Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston West Stake Center, (Waterton Hi-way) on Monday, July 29th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service.
