Lawrence “Allan” Doram of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Marion Doram, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 2, 2013 at the age of 88 years.
Al was born in Coal City, north of Barnwell, where had had a very active youth. He was very involved in basketball and was a tremendous softball player. When Al’s family moved to the Readymade area, he operated a service station and garage. He then joined the Air Force and served in Germany from 1960 to 1975; returning to Canada, he began teaching mechanics and taught at both the Ft. McMurray and Penhold bases. His first love was music. He sang and played guitar all of his life and enjoyed playing for the LSCO, seniors home, the hospital, and many local clubs. In his later years, Al looked forward to time with his buddies at the Legion and the Thursday night Jam sessions at the LSCO. Al is survived by his son Ted, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his loving wife Marion, he was predeceased by his parents William and Louise Doram, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, Field of Honour with Canon Allan McCuaig officiating. Send condolences at www.mbfunerals.com.
