Posted: January 23rd, 2014MAURICE COTÉ 1938 ~ 2014 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Maurice Coté.
Loving husband to Angela Coté and father to their daughter, Genna (Travis) Gaetz. He also leaves behind his five children, Rosalie (Steven) Ward, Craig (Angela), Maureen (Diego) Schafer, Michelle (Walter) Davidson, Carey (Katherine) as well as a step-son, Sheldon (Nona) Anderson. Maurice was a Grandpa to Ethan, Levi, Julian, Aurora, Gabriel, Cole, Josh, Bailey, Corbin, Brayden, Chanel and Mariah. He is survived by two brothers, Bob (Matilda) and Ernie (Helen); two sisters-in-law, Irene Coté and June Coté; brother-in-law, Tom McCann as well as many nieces and nephews. He was very close to Angie’s family and will be fondly remembered by all of them. Maurice was a Master Carpenter, and could transform a piece of lumber into a thing of beauty. He was a Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic and passed on his knowledge to those who had the privilege of working with him. He was a jack of all trades and was successful with most everything he tried. Maurice loved to go on hunting trips with his buddies and he loved to camp and pull out his guitar and sing around a campfire. He was a friend to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Maurice will always be remembered for his strong presence, sense of humour, wisdom and the love that he felt for his family. A Celebration of Maurice’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cook southland.com) If friends so desire, memorial tributes in memory of Maurice may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 124, 430 – 6 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2S8.
