MAE SASAKI passed away on April 3, 2015 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jiro, her daughter, Janice Sasaki, son-in-law Rob Luck, her brothers Takeshi (Ted), Isamu (Isam), sisters Toshiko and Fumiko. She is predeceased by her father Takejiro and mother Isa, as well as brothers Minoru (Min), Shoji (Shorn) and Hikoza (Hik) and her sister Natsuko (Nerts). Mae was born on the Milk River ridge southeast of Raymond. She was the youngest girl in a family of nine children. Growing up on the Yama (ridge), left Mae with many lasting memories. In 1950, Mae married Jiro Sasaki and they were rarely seen apart for the next sixty-five years. For the first seven years of marriage, they lived in Barnwell. Mae and Jiro then moved to Taber where they made their home and grew exceptional gardens until recently when they moved to Lethbridge. Mae spent over forty years working in health care with most years spent at the Taber Clinic. She was an avid curler, golfer and reader and enjoyed doing crosswords and gardening. She also took up skiing and made many trips to the mountains with family and friends. Her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and especially Jiro, Janice and Rob (Steve) were greatly valued as were her many friends. For the last few months, Mae had resided with Jiro at Garden View Lodge in Lethbridge. The family’s sincere thanks go to all of the wonderful, thoughtful staff there for the kindness and caring they showed Mae. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 St. N, Lethbridge on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am at the BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA, 470-40 St. S, Lethbridge on Friday, April 10.
