Hazel Simanton of Bow Island, AB, beloved wife of the late Edward C. Simanton, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Bow Island Long Term Care – Bow Island Hospital at the age of 100 years.
Hazel was born in Rimby on December 16, 1915. She married Ed at the Kenny Farm in Rimby on December 25, 1933 and moved directly to the Foremost area where they farmed and raised their family. Before moving to Foremost, where they retired, in 1995, they moved to Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island. Mom spent her later years in Bow Island Hospital Long Term Care until her passing. Mom enjoyed her flowers for as long as her health allowed.
Hazel is survived by her daughter Shirley Walters (Richard) and family; sons Ron Simanton (Sarah) and family, Bob Simanton (Edie) and family, Vern Simanton (Val) and Family and Ray Simanton (Ann) and family; sisters Helen Cooke (Bob), Dasey Stuart (Darrel), Pheobe Smithson (sister-in-law); and brothers-in-law Bob Crasewall and Andy Gilespie.
Besides her loving husband Ed Simanton, Hazel was predeceased by her parents Spearman and Eva Kenny, grandson Dave, granddaughter Sharon, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
A Private family service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.
