Russell Levern Cotten of Empress, beloved husband of the late Olga Cotten, passed away on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 at the age of 76 years. Russell leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jason Cotten (Shari Hansen); his daughter, Karen Cotten (Dan Graham); five grandchildren, Brandy (BJ) Miller, Candice (Cody) Campbell, Cristin (Kyle) Koch, Caitlin Cotten and Cole Cotten; four brothers, Victor (Val) Cotten, Mack (Arley) Cotten, Bradley (Arlene) Engel and Colin (Val) Engel; two sisters, Colleen (Halmet) Kolross and Orleen Engel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russell was predeceased by his wife, Olga; two sons, Levern Cotten and Hugh Cotten; his parents, Vaughn and Clara Cotten; two brothers, Stewart Cotten and Dennis Cotten; and one sister, Charlotte Baumann. Russell was born on August 2nd, 1939 in Medicine Hat where he was raised and educated. He worked for the City of Medicine Hat until his retirement. Russell enjoyed dancing, hockey, his bikes, coffee time, Sunday breakfast and spending time in his garage. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. I have had the privilege of knowing Russell through the Empress “coffee Club”.He always brought smiles and humour with him when he walked through the door.He will truly be be missed!
