It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Allan Day, at the Lethbridge Hospital after a long and difficult battle with numerous infections. Allan worked for many years for the UGG and then as an engineer for CPRail until his retirement in 1994. For the last several years he enjoyed his time at his son’s (Brent’s) property at the base of Big Chief Mountain. There he made many good friends and spent a lot of time enjoying the peace, quiet and beauty of the Alberta foothills. Visiting the neighbors, watching the wildlife and picking saskatoon berries were some of his favorite pastimes. Many hours of family time were spent around the campfire. Friends and neighbors were always welcome. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Laurie (Rob) Jones, Darin (Tannis) Day, Brent (Launa) Day, and Christopher Day; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Keen and Helen McDowall; and his loving partner, Sandy Willier. Allan is also survived by a host of relatives and friends including special nieces, Heather (Butch) Thomson and Beverley (Jerry) Mokry. Allan was predeceased by his parents, one brother and an infant son, as well as the mother of his children. A Family Memorial and the Interment of his ashes will be held at the family plot at the Red Deer Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, do a kind deed forward or a donation to your local food bank.
