EVA PENGILLY

1922 – 2018

Our dear Eva passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Therese on May 13, 2018. She was 96 years of age.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dan Pengilly, her son Richard Pengilly and her daughter-in-law Lee Pengilly.

She is survived by her daughter Diane (Ian) Reed, their children Kurtis (Lisa) Reed, Kristin (Brad) Gathercole, Karen Reed and Kent (Kristin) Reed; her son Ben Pengilly, his children Carrie Pengilly and Daniel (Katie) Pengilly; Gordon Pengilly (Connie Zerger) and her son Doug (Elaine) Pengilly and their children Nick and Skyler Pengilly. She is also survived by 7 wonderful great grandchildren.

Eva was born in Blackie, Alberta in 1922. She married Dan in 1945 and they farmed outside of Stirling for about 40 years. Even though she as the mother of five children, a farmer’s wife and an active member in her church and community, she still found time to be the full-time secretary of the Stirling School.

She was a kind, generous and funny person who will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren as “Hummy”. We always felt that she was our favorite comedian. She was renowned for being able to feed the multitudes at a moment’s notice. Eva was a very staunch supporter of her sons in high school basketball and infamous for giving the refs a hard time. Dan would have attested to that!

A graveside service for immediate family will be held at the Stirling Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service at 2:00pm on Saturday May 19, 2018 at the LDS FAIRMONT CHAPEL- 205 Fairmont Blvd S, Lethbridge, AB.

The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Therese for their wonderful care and consideration. They all knew Eva by name and treated her with dignity.

In Lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to the charity of your choice on her behalf.

2 Condolences for “PENGILLY, Eva”

  1. Zandy and Jean Henderson says:

We were workers for the church at St Therese and spent some great times with Eva. She was a sweet, loving lady and we thought a lot of her and loved her very much. God bless the family and know that you are in our prayers.

  2. Merlye Selk says:

I enjoyed many visits with Eva, first as she was in my mother’s family home group and sometimes I would go too and secondly at St. Therese when I visited Helen McGlenn, my sister-in-law. Often Eva would come and we would have a good visit together. She and Helen were friends forever and enjoyed and helped each other in their time at St. Therese. She was a lovely lady and will be missed. Sending sincere sympathy to all the family.
