Posted: October 23rd, 2018

Robert (“BOB”) Thompson passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018, at the age of 74 years. At the time of his passing, Bob was a resident of the Oyster Harbour Seniors Community in Ladysmith B.C., where he had been living for the 10 years. Bob leaves to survive him his mother Alberta Thompson of Medicine Hat, his son Christopher Thompson (Yuan) of Ottawa, his sister Jacqueline Bishop (Patrick) of Medicine Hat, his bother Barry Thompson of Edmonton, his sister in law, Arlene Mack (Winston) of Edmonton, as well as nephews, Stephen Bishop, Ian Bishop and Mark Mack. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Thompson, his father, John Thompson, his sister in law, Josephine Mack and by Edna’s parents, August and Ida Christman. Bob was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force before turning to a career in law, where he spent his entire time with the Emery Jamieson firm in Edmonton.

Bob never forgot his air force roots and was a brilliant amateur military historian and vintage military aircraft model builder where his attention to perfection of construction and historical details were unsurpassed. He was also an avid sailor.

The family would like to thank Bob’s dear friends, Bruce and Elaine Maclock for their kind and generous support during his time in Ladysmith and also most gratefully, the caregivers at Oyster Harbour for their wonderful care and attention during Bob’s time there.

Jackie would like to extend a special thank you to Allan and Diana Gould for their warm hospitality and support.

Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
