It is with profound sadness that family of Donald Keith Valkenburg announce his passing in Medicine Hat on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the age of 83 years. Along with Gladys, his loving wife of 63 years, left to cherish Donald’s memory are his two sons and their families: Todd (Val) and their children, Danton Valkenburg, Vanessa (Matt) Gagnon and their son, Jack Brian Gagnon; Kasey (Nadine) and their children, Jazmin (Andrew) Junkin and their daughter, J-Cee; Aspen Valkenburg (Fiancé Greg Allsopp) as well as Skylar (Jaren) Schile and their “soon to be” baby-boy due on June 14th of this year. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Casey and Emiline. A hard working and duty driven individual, Donald never took a sick day over the 30 years that he worked as a letter carrier. He enjoyed time spent in the outdoors camping and fishing and relished in every opportunity to watch his children and grandchildren play sports, following them everywhere. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. No formal funeral proceedings will take place. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medicine Hat Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is because of their team and specialty equipment that Don’s great-granddaughter is here today.
