ROBERT “BUD” CROBAR

March 31, 1940 ~ July 3, 2019

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bud” Alexander Crobar on July 3rd, 2019, at 79 years of age. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. Bud was born on March 31st, 1940 at Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. His younger years were spent in Regina. As a young man of 17, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at various air bases throughout his military career, making friends along the way. Some of his memorable postings included Marville, France; Winnipeg, and Moose Jaw where as an Instrument Electronic Mechanic he worked on the maintenance of aircraft including the Snowbirds. After leaving the forces, Bud worked as a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician in Medicine Hat and Fort McMurray before retiring to Medicine Hat.

Bud was an only child and when he got married, he wanted to have a large family. This wish came true and in his last days, he frequently expressed his pride in his kids and grandkids. He was loving and generous with his time and his family, coaching his kids in hockey and baseball. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping. Bud was always quick with a joke and a kind word. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 57 years, Lorraine, children: Rob (Jeanette) Crobar; Karen (Martin) Boutkan; Maureen (Steve) Risling; Laurie (Al) Jacobs. His pride and joy, seven grandchildren; Roman Crobar; Tyler (Amanda) Risling; Cassie (Connor) Skagen; Ryley Risling; Emily Boutkan; Taylor Crobar; Evan Crobar as well as two great granddaughters, Lilah Skagen and Lydia Risling.

Bud was an avid hockey, football, and baseball fan. He loved the Calgary Flames, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Toronto Blue Jays and thoroughly enjoyed a recent trip to Boston to watch the Blue Jays play the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Bud was a supportive Dad and Grandpa, always seen in the stands cheering on his kids and grandkids, whether it was hockey, ball or a music recital. His passion was playing bridge as he was always looking for a new student to share his love of the game. Bud loved his family above all else and wanted the best for them. His was a life well lived, well loved.

To have Bud in your life was to be truly blessed. His biggest concern and proudest achievement was his family. Those who just met him, quickly found a friend who demonstrated a sincere interest and empathy. Bud was a person that truly empathized with you when listening to your story. To the end he was a sensible, strong, sensitive and respectful person who was willing to share his wisdom and humour with all who came into his life. An empathetic man who noticed when simple kindness and giving could make a difference. That was Bud, coming through at the absolute best time to help his family and friends. Robert Alexander Crobar ‘Bud’ will truly be missed by his friends and family.
