FLORABELL (CAMPBELL) LEE passed away September 12, 2019 at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Flora was surrounded by her loving family. She was delivered by a midwife in Hill Spring, Alberta on November 3, 1932 to William and Elna Campbell and was the fourth of eleven children. Flora is survived by her siblings Ruth Barton, Allen (Anna) Campbell, Colleen Hummelle, Wendell (Debbie) Campbell. Also survived by her children Shannon Snow, Charlene (Gustavo) Placeres, Lewis Lee, Jane (Bruce) Martens, Vanessa (Tim) Knecht and Tina (Randall) Leavitt. She was predeceased by her parents William and Elna (nee Bohne) Campbell and siblings Annetta Campbell, Walton Campbell, David Campbell, Blaine Campbell, Jean Forsyth and her eldest daughter Terra Heggie. Flora was raised in Hill Spring, Alberta and spent many summers lending a helping hand with logging in the Beaver Mines area, working in the family garden or cleaning neighbors’ homes. What most people remember about Flora is her unconditional love and how open her home was to anyone who needed support or shelter. She fostered and unofficially adopted numerous children during her lifetime, some of which have stayed part of her life to this day. She enjoyed her volunteering for the ladies auxiliary and the Raymond Care Center. She looked forward to engaging with the patients and helping to raise funds for various equipment. She was avid in her beliefs in the LDS community and was a compassionate service leader. Flora was a homemaker for the most part but had some brief early work as a housekeeper and then chambermaid at the Prince of Whales Hotel in Waterton. She married George Lee in 1952 and together they lived in numerous locations in Alberta while George worked for Trans Alta Utilities. They settled in Raymond finally but were divorced several years later. In lieu of flowers, Flora had asked that donations be made to the diabetes association or the Heart & Lung Association. Flora will be sorrowfully missed by her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to meet her.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taylor Street Chapel in Raymond, AB on Wednesday, September 18th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may meet the family at the church on Tuesday, September 17th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the Service.
