FIGENSHAU

The family of Clark Torgersen Figenshau are sad to announce his passing on September 9, 2019 at the age of 91 years.

Born on December 22, 1927, in the small town of Irma Alberta. Clark was the oldest of four, having two brothers, Vern and Harry, and one sister Ida. In later years he attended Henderson Business School in Calgary where he focused on accounting, and there he met the love of his life Christina Borth. Clark and Christina married and started a family. Their daughter Merna was the first to be born. Clark worked as an accountant for CFCN Radio in Calgary for a period and then the family moved to Trail, BC as he received a new job for CJAT Radio. While in Trail they welcomed their son Van into the world. They then moved to Lethbridge, where Clark was accountant for CJOC and CHEC Radio stations.

Clark retired from working as a Government of Alberta Driver Examiner. He and Christina spent the next 40 winters in Arizona where they developed a close-knit community, their Arizona family. In Arizona Clark played with different musicians and “The First Arizona Banjo Band”. While in Lethbridge, Clark drove Taxi. He was a proud member of the Busker’s Association and entertained at events throughout the city. For many years the highlight of his week was playing his banjo at the Exhibition Park Farmer’s Market. A life member at both the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization and Nordbridge Senior’s Centre, he was member of the Number 8 Mine Society and Lethbridge Humane Society.

Dogs were a large part of Clark’s life and he always carried a biscuit in his pocket on his daily walks for anytime he met a dog.

Survived by his wife Christina Figenshau, daughter Merna (Robert) Baker, son Van (Debi) Figenshau, grandson Michael (Jackie) Baker, grand-daughter Lacy (Jason) Ebert, plus 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
