JOE GILLETT SR., beloved husband of the late Edna Grace Gillett, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Joe is survived by his loving children, Connie & Rick Larson, Sandi & Scott Jeffery, and Joe & Wendy Gillett, all of Lethbridge. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole Larson, Ryan Larson, Deanna Kazakoff and Gage Gillett, as well as his great-grandchildren, Opal Kazakoff, Vienna Gillett and Andrew Gillett.
He was predeceased by his parents, George W. & Charlotte Gillett, and his brothers, George A. Gillett and Roger Gillett.
Many testaments to Dad are the buildings he constructed with his high level of attention to detail. Several of those buildings stand today as his legacy; Sisters of St. Martha’s Retreat (1966), Sportsplex (1975), and CPR Car Shop (1984) to name a few. In addition to his working career, his interests varied from playing golf and cribbage to participating in the Kiwanis Festival.
Mom & Dad’s greatest enjoyment in life was spent in Mesa, AZ and at the lake. In later years after Mom’s passing, Dad’s lifeline and comfort was his family, friends, and staff at the Fairmont Extendicare–they all kept the revolving door turning.
Exceptional care was given to Dad by many different groups and people. We would especially like to thank the staff at Fairmont Extendicare, the Chinook Regional Hospital, Dr. Sommerfeldt and the team at the Wound Clinic, the Lethbridge HandiBus, and Lethbridge Home Care.
