WEINBERGER
Posted: February 24th, 2020Marjorie Jean Weinberger passed away peacefully on Feb 18, 2020 at the age of 83 years in Saskatoon, SK. She was born on Oct 29, 1936 to Charlie and Selma Stuber in Orion, AB.
Marg grew up on the Stuber farm in the Bullshead Butte area attending school at Butte and Valleyview Schools as well as correspondence. She then moved to Medicine Hat and began working at the Medicine Hat Hospital as a nurse’s aid in the operating room. It was during this time she met Paul Weinberger at a dance and they were married on Nov 17, 1962; to which now Marg became a farm wife in the Fox Valley area. Paul and Marg ran a mixed farm with grain, cattle, milk cows, pigs and chickens, selling cream and making sausage. In 1969, Calvin was born and together continued farming until Paul passed away in 1998. Marg continued to stay on the farm playing as important active role with Calvin until her passing.
Marg loved animals! Knowing every cow in the herd individually, and had many pets over the years. She also loved gardening and with that came pickling and canning. She was also an amazing baker and cook. There wasn’t much she couldn’t make! Neighbours, friends, hunters and family left with full bellies and smiles due to witty comments. Her saying was if you went away hungry – that was your own fault!!
Marg also loved to be outside. For those who knew her she would be seen driving a quad runner around usually checking cattle. We all got to learn that there was only one colour quad out there and that was RED – the rest were garbage!! I guess the red ones were the only good ones because she managed to accumulate 33,000 kms over the years and its still going strong.
She also loved to play cards, laugh and have fun but when she got mad – she was MAD!! I think a select few only got to see this! In her 70’s, while chasing a cow; and of course, mad she rolled the quad dislocating her arm and required stitches. The emergency doctor asked Mrs. Weinberger how did you do this? Her reply was driving the quad runner! The doctor said to her maybe you shouldn’t be driving this at you age. Her reply was “you do your job and I’ll do mine”.
Marg was predeceased by her parents Selma (2000), Charlie (1976) and her husband Paul (1998). She is survived by her son Calvin, brother Marvin (Barbara) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rest in Peace until we meet again… and remember keep your RED toy moving!!
