Perry Iwaasa

July 16, 1961 – June 3, 2021

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Perry Benedict Iwaasa on June 3, 2021, at the age of 59, at the Calgary Foothills Hospital.

He is survived by his eternal companion of 25 years, Myrna (Atwood) Iwaasa, his children, Paige (Dawson) Fogen, Marshal Iwaasa (missing), Mark Yip, Danae Stone (Dave), Erin (Darcy) Hildebrandt, Kylee Stone (Ben), his grand-children Haylee and Atlas, his 14-year-old faithful four-legged friend Mochii, his mother Miiko Iwaasa, 4 brothers and 18 nieces/nephews. A special thank-you to his brothers Milton (Kathy), Rod (Debbie) and their families for their loving support, numerous dinners, and memorable visits.

Perry is also survived by Myrna’s family, Delroy (Sharon) Atwood, Don Atwood, Maralyn (Larry) Leavitt, Cheryle (Jim) Duffin, Glenda (Ken) Kroetsch, Susan (Vern) Nelson, Shelly (Tracy) Johnson, Donna Atwood, and numerous nieces/nephews.

Perry is pre-deceased by his father Jeaune, brother Michael, sister Susan, step-son Cameron, father and mother in-law Glen and Elva Atwood, and brothers in-law Brian and Barton Atwood.

Perry will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him for his compassion, sense of humour, and his generous nature.

During the last few months of Perry’s life, he was able to arrange the donation of his organs and tissues, which will save several lives and help 75 more people in need.

In honour of Perry’s memory there will be a private viewing by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, please consider registering to become an organ donor and/or contributing to the Canadian Transplant Association.
