Robert “Bobby” Crighton

1942 – 2021

Bobby Crighton has received a special invite that only comes once in a lifetime. Bob joined his past friends and family on June 27, 2021; we all will miss him. This invite comes with a wonderful bonus, an eternal beer with the people he cherished that moved on ahead of him. It gives us great pleasure to know he will be forever entertaining his old friends and family for eternity.

Jim and Rene Crighton welcomed Bob into the world, March 10, 1942. Bob the youngest, with three siblings, Miriam Smith, Bill Crighton and Ron Crighton. As a proud Crighton, he took up the family business, meat cutting at Alberta Meat Market. Being the venturous soul that he was, he opened a second family business, along with his brothers in 1979, Alberta Meat and Grocery. The grocery store became famous, not for its goods, but for its back room. The famous (maybe infamous) Alberta Meat and Grocery back room, where there was always a warm welcome and a cold beverage for anyone who stopped by. In 2001, he and his son decided to turn the back room into Pops Taphouse North. Pops became his new social site, where he always welcomed all guests with the kindest of welcomes. Between his dear friend (business partner) Ruth Wilson and himself, every guest became a friend.

Bobby and Anne Crighton raised three children, and he was so proud of his daughters Kelley (Tim) Gross, Joan Crighton; son Scott (Janis) Crighton; granddaughters Challis Gross, Paris Foder; grandsons Eastyn (Sam) Gross, Colton (Chelsey) Prete, Joey Crighton and Sam Crighton; great-granddaughters Ada Rene Ducharme and Mila Jo Prete.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, on Monday, July 5, at NORTH POPS TAPHOUSE, 1475 St. Edward Blvd N, Lethbridge, Alberta.
