HANCOCK

BRENT SIDNEY HANCOCK, PEng, passed away on November 10, 2021, peacefully and in the presence of his family. Brent was born in England on January 12, 1939, and is survived by his wife Terry, two sons Brian (Brenda) and Michael (Andrea), seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Brent lived a full and varied life, traveling extensively to work in his field of expertise, Power Systems Engineering. He was known as a talented and precise engineer, working on large power system upgrades in countries as diverse as China, Australia, Jordan, Egypt, and Poland. Brent was an avid golfer, and devoted follower of Sunderland AFC, like his father before him. Brent emigrated to Canada with his wife and two (then young) children in 1973.

Brent loved music, singing as a member of the Calgary and Winnipeg Philharmonic Choruses, and other community choirs. Brent was also a model train enthusiast, spending many hours tinkering with his trains and building dioramas. He had a strong sense of humor and wit. Brent held himself to an exacting standard in his work, and his two sons, Brian and Michael, will continue their quest to locate the missing 2% on their 98% math exams.

We would like to offer our sincere and deep gratitude for the excellent and loving care which Dad received in his last months of life. His doctor, Dr. Makwati, and the staff of Talarico Place provided the very best care, keeping Dad comfortable and supported as the end drew near. We will always remember their professionalism and kindness.

In accordance with Brent’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Parkinsons Society.
