She was named Aipo’taakii as a baby by her grandmother Margaret Many Fingers, and as an adult she took the name of her other grandmother Iimii’tsim’aakii. Elana was also very close to her Maternal Grandparents Dale Lowhorne Sr and the late Sylvia Lowhorne. She was also the oldest grandchild of Dale & Sylvia. She would often call them when she needed someone to talk to or needed prayers. She enjoyed visiting at Low Horn ranch and helping Grandma Syl where she could. Elana had a happy childhood at the Many Fingers Ranch; Her dad spoiled her rotten, what ever Elana wanted her dad made sure she got. She attended Glenwood Elementary School and graduated from Kainai High School in 1995. She obtained a permanent Life Skills Coach Certificate and worked for many years with Kainai Children’s Services as a Child Care Worker. She was the social butterfly in the family; she is a very caring, compassionate, very friendly with everyone and had numerous friends, young and old. She even had the Chief on speed dial. Her four favorite friends, Marie and Pam Wadsworth, Virginia Black Plume and Auntie Vivian White Quills.
Elana was instrumental in the Search movement. She made her Search in 1994 in Enoch, Alberta. Her theme song was Come Back to Me. She traveled near and far to start up the Search movement on other reservations in both Canada and the United States. In 1998 she made her Cursillo on the Blood Reserve, and her theme song was Jesus On My Mind. She also had the privilege of traveling to San Antonio to attend a George Strait concert with Uncle Randy. It was one of the last concerts to be held in the Astro Dome before the new stadium was built. Whilst on the trip they encountered a Hurricane and were not fed on the plane home. When they arrived home, they were starving. There are so many stories that we can reminisce about with Elana about growing up at Grandma and Grandpas house in townsite.

When I heard about her passing, my heart became heavy and in silence I heard her voice tell me “Its not that bad, it will be ok”. The one thing she taugt me while I was in Glenwood School Gr 8&9 with her is to be true and no matter what, things will always get better. She is and always will be deeply missed and greatly remembered.
To her family and relatives my thoughts, prayers go out to you all.
