1933 – 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Lanz announce her passing on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the age of 82 years. Along with her beloved husband, John, Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Jaylene (Doug) Pierce and Troy (Sandra) Lanz; four grandchildren, Ryan Aasman (Kait Fox), Jayna Aasman (Ryan Squires), Tania Lanz and Tyson Lanz as well as two sisters, Eileen (Cyril) Brachonnier and Kathleen (Bob) Fuller. She was predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Jacob Rath; four sisters, Adeline, Annie, Elma and Lorraine; two brothers, Art and Jimmy; son-in-law, Tony Aasman; John’s eleven siblings and in-laws as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John and Phyllis were married for 62 years and deeply loved each other. Phyllis’ world revolved around her friends and family, especially her four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Phyllis’ favourite way to spend her day was watching sports, especially curling and hockey. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, watching game shows, shopping on the shopping channel and cooking and baking for her loved ones. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her friends and family and everyone who loves her will miss that contagious laugh of hers. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. A time of fellowship will follow thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. Phyllis’ service will be live streamed.
