MCPHERSON, Robert Douglas

Rob died tragically in a car accident earlier this month, along with his wife, Taren Dalrymple.
He came into the world a wild child, and that streak never left him. As wild as he was, he maintained a curiosity for the world. He wanted to drive or ride anything mechanical, bring home any four or no-legged creature (there were many snakes), and constantly questioned why he belonged in school.
Rob got into the oil patch young and had a career that took him all over western Canada and overseas. It was his passion for many years.
Rob’s greatest joy in life was becoming a father. He was the proud father to Bryan and Amara, and wanted the best for his kids.
Like too many, Rob struggled with addiction and the hard lifestyle that comes with it. After a particularly difficult winter, he had moved to the Crowsnest Pass and had support from close friends in trying to overcome it.
Although his choices led him to question his purpose and outcome, he never wavered in wanting the best for his children and remaining optimistic for tomorrow. He was a genuine and empathetic father who truly wanted his kids to have a life filled with love and laughter.
Despite Rob’s shortcomings, his family and his friends will miss him dearly. At his best he was kind, generous, loving, and had a wicked sense of humour. We are all left wondering and hoping that he was on a path to becoming a better version of himself.
Rob was predeceased by his mother Brenda, stepmother Debra, grandparents Douglas and Joan McPherson, Marvin and Alice Wobick, cousin Jared, and lifelong friends Bryan Krampl and Shawn Lazaruk.
Left to grieve his loss and remember him are his children, Bryan and Amara, father Ian, sister Lindsay (Lee Roy), aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends graced to know him when the going was good.
Addiction is hard, and it makes living life even harder. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to an addiction recovery center or a dog rescue of your choice. And above all else, hug and love those you hold dear.
A celebration of Rob’s life will be held later this summer.
