Helen was a very strong woman, courageous & hardworking.

Helen Rose George was born in Leask, SK to Isidor and Ethel Klein.

At the age of 4, her family moved to Marcelin, SK and lived in a mud house with a grass roof during the depression years. Helens mother passed away on her 12th birthday. Since Helen was the oldest sibling she cooked, performed all of the household chores, and cared for her siblings.

Helen continued to attend school and spoke French fluently. She completed grade 12. Helen met Frank George and they were married in 1951. They had two children; Darcy and Charlotte.

Helen worked as a secretary for many years at St. Paul’s School. She would always forego having her lunch break to initiate soccer games for the children. Many children came to her for a band aide or to wipe a tear away.

Helen was the custodian for St. Basil’s Church for many years. She meticulously cleaned the church. She also sang in the St. Basil’s Church Choir for over 50 years. Singing was her passion. Helen was a member of the CWL for over 50 years.

Helen had a heart of gold. She volunteered many hours of her time to clean and knit outfits for donated dolls which the Salvation Army distributed to needy children at Christmas.

Helen was a fabulous cook and she fed many priests at her home throughout the years. Helen always opened her home to others. Helen was very kind and compassionate to the needs of others.

Helen’s grandchildren Matteo and Jesse were the apple of her eye.

A Celebration Mass of Helen’s Life will occur on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Stevenot, concelebrant Father Wayne Poile.
