Carmel Gray

1939 – 2022

Mrs. Carmel Gray of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Dick Gray, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre, on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 83 years.

Carmel was born on May 24, 1939 in Shelby, Montana. She attended school in Coutts, Alberta, and in 1957 she graduated from Earle Rivers High School in Milk River. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Lethbridge with her parents and worked for the Magistrate Court. In 1969 she married Dick Gray and together they raised their children while operating Valley Feeders Feedlot in the river bottom. In 1984 they moved to the city, where she resided until her passing. As both a child and an adult, Carmel loved spending time in Waterton at the family Cabin. Her door was always open to company, as she loved feeding her family and friends. Her cinnamon buns, butter horns, baked beans and clam chowder will be missed. As her life slowed down, Carmel became an avid bridge player and spent hours doing puzzles. She loved cowboy music, Sunday jams with Bud, coffee with the ladies and thrift store shopping.

Carmel is survived by her daughter Susan (Dan) Schindeler; son Richard (Marianne) Gray; grandchildren Nicholas, Nicole, Mackenzie, and Zachary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her loving husband Dick, she was predeceased by her parents Margaret and John Wollershiem; and sisters Rita Pittman and Paulette Rosaine.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at PARALLEL CHURCH LETHBRIDGE, 1 Mile East, AB-3, Lethbridge, Alberta.
