JOAN MCKENNA

JOAN MCKENNA 1934 ~ 2022 Joan Lavonne McKenna (nee Tollestrup) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the age of 88 years. Joan is survived by her children, Shelli Shaw, Greg McKenna, Darren McKenna, Barry (Sheri) McKenna and Bruce (Wanda) McKenna; brother, Barry (Mary) Tollestrup as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Joseph McKenna; grandson, Tyler Benjamin Shaw and brother, Jack Tollestrup. Joan was born in Lethbridge on September 13, 1934, to John and Lavita Tollestrup. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in many sporting activities and was always their greatest fan. She loved traveling to watch various sporting events that her family participated in. Joan and Bob were very involved with local sports and events, volunteering countless hours for many years. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and her friends at The Wellington. The family would like to especially thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Home for the care and compassion she received during her short stay there. She will be silently remembered by family and friends without the proceedings of a formal service.
