MONA JESSE June 24, 1943 ~ January 3, 2023 Mrs. Mona Jesse, beloved wife of Jim, passed away peacefully in Victoria, B.C., on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the age of 79 years. Along with Jim, Mona leaves to cherish her memory: children, Rani Jesse Wiedemann (Rob), Christopher Jesse (Nuch), Charlene Jesse (Cynthia) and Cheryl Coward (David). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Emely, Aaron, Justin, Nate and Finn; two brothers and three sisters in Trinidad and Tobago as well as numerous extended family in the United States and Trinidad and Tobago. Mona was born in Princes Town, Trinidad and Tobago on June 24, 1943. She immigrated to Canada in 1969, settling in Calgary, Alberta. This is also where Mona and Jim were married in 1975, the beginning of 47 wonderful years together. Her career as an art teacher was truly a labour of love that allowed her to share her gifts for painting and pottery. Over the years, Mona gave of her time to many clubs and organizations, some of which included various book clubs, the Professional Women’s Club and Toastmasters. She had a passion for travel and her many trips worldwide left her with many interesting stories and wonderful memories. Her love of life was evident as people gravitated towards her vibrant and welcoming personality. Mona was a strong woman and a natural leader, using those qualities to build bridges and bring people together. She was very loving and generous to her friends and family. Mona always made time for them, often including them in her hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, Yoga, Qigong and anything to do with the ocean. Mona’s thirst for knowledge and love of learning led her to achieve a BA in Fine Arts and her BEd. The wonderful memories from the day she received her Canadian Citizenship compared only to those of time spent with her family. Mona’s strong faith in God will see her through on her next life’s journey. A Private funeral and burial will take place in the coming week. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a public come and go celebration of Mona’s life in the Cook Southland Reception Facility on Friday, January 20, 2023, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed and shared through visiting www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is
