KUPILLAS
July 16, 1959 – April 3, 2023

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Brian Kupillas on April 3, 2023. He maintained a positive attitude throughout his 2-year battle with leukemia. He surprised his doctors many times with his determination to overcome the cancer. A huge thank you to the staff at Vancouver General Hospital. Brian loved spending time on the 16th floor in the “room with a view”, his “zen” room.

He is survived by Lyanne, his wife of 35 years, and their son Tylor; his mother, Grace Walker; his siblings: Wayne (Terry) Kupillas, Les (Shannon) Kupillas, Penny (Greg) Rabb; step-siblings: Allan (Brenda) Walker, Robert (Charlene) Walker, as well as many nieces and nephews; Lyanne’s family: her parents Kim & Sachi Shirakawa, Glenna (Gerald) Schlesiger and their son Graeme, and Keith (Sue) Shirakawa and their sons Jordan & Tanner.

After spending 19 memorable years in Lethbridge, Brian and Lyanne moved back to Richmond to be closer to aging parents. Brian always had a project on the go: from renovating every room in his home to building elaborate Lego creations. He loved to watch and talk sports, would strike up a conversation with anyone, and valued his time spent with family. He thoroughly enjoyed working for Platinum Proclaim and is extremely grateful for their support during his courageous battle with leukemia.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13 at 1pm at the Steveston United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or the Steveston United Church.
