ROYAL HENRY MCFADYEN April 25, 1949 April 6, 2023 (Philippines) The family of Roy McFadyen is profoundly sad to announce his passing in Las Pinas City, Luzon, Philippines, with his devoted wife, Fe Mercado Nocos McFadyen by his side.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Donald McFadyen, and his younger brother, Raymond. He is survived by his loving wife Fe and her family in the Philippines; his daughters, Tricia Wambold, Medicine Hat and Susan Laskosky (Jim), Rocky Mountain House; grandchildren, Allan Wambold, Maple Creek, Logan Wambold, Medicine Hat and Brianna Laskosky, Vancouver. He is also survived by his siblings, Elizabeth McFadyen, Victoria, Linda McFadyen (Robert Ciastko), Winnipeg, and Ronald McFadyen (Wanda), Nanimo, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Roy was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and later moved to Calgary, Alberta where he spent most of his adult years working in management for Safeway. There he married, raised a family and finished his university. Aside from his daughters, whom he adored, Roy loved sports, music, boating, motorcycling and his dogs.
In retirement Roy devoted much of his time to community services, including his work through his church. Roy discovered his faith mid life, and was devoted to his churches, firstly in Calgary, The First Alliance Church, and then in the Philippines, The Bread from Heaven Christian Fellowship. His bond with his faith was, central in his life, and shared with his beautiful wife, Fe, in their marriage and their work together through their church.
Roy was kind and compassionate and his legacy will be of a very devoted, loyal and caring husband, father, brother and friend.
Health issues in the past several months left him unable to travel home to Canada, but the family is most grateful for the care he received from his wife, Fe and family in the Philippines. He will be sorely missed.
Services have been held in the Philippines.
