WENDY CARSON 1939 – 2023 Wendy Patricia Jean Carson, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Buffalo Grace Manor in Lethbridge, Alberta on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the age of 83 years.
Aunty Wendy will be missed by her niece Carol Godlonton (Miles), nephew Michael Jolliffe (Kelly Legris), great niece Amanda Hyde (Dave), great nephew Ryan Godlonton (Jennifer Lund), great-great nephews Emerson and Declan Hyde and great-great niece Gabrielle Robbins.
Wendy was predeceased by her parents, John and Gladys Carson, her sister Muriel Jolliffe (née Carson) and brother-in-law Raymond Jolliffe.
As a Registered Nurse, Wendy was dedicated to pediatric care and midwifery. She trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London, England and when she moved to Canada started at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital, moved to the Campbell Clinic, and spent most of her career at St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge. Wendy was also a Founding Member of the Canadian Association of Registered Pediatric Nurses. Wendy’s support and promotion for nursing included several terms as the South District Provincial Representative for the Alberta Association of Registered Nurses (AARN) where she was recognized for her service as a Nominee for the AARN South District Heritage of Service Award in 1992 and a recipient of the AARN Volunteer Appreciation Award in 1996. Wendy was a speaker the XX Quadrennial Congress of Nursing in Madrid, Spain and participated in the Soviet-Canadian Conference in 1974, which included professional visits to clinics and hospitals in Moscow. In appreciation of Wendy’s love for nature, her hikes at Waterton Park and her many long walks in the River Bottom and Indian Battle Park, please consider a donation in her memory to the Helen Schuler Nature Centre.
