GIACCHETTA, Georgina

GIACCHETTA It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of GEORGINA GIACCHETTA at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023, at the age of 91.
She is survived by her daughter Diane (Norman) Sincennes, their children and her precious grandchildren, Santina and Graysen, sister Helen (Doug) Campbell and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends and neighbours.
She is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Felix, as well as her parents Antonia and John Krsa, sisters Marie, Frances and Anne, brother John, and brothers-in-law Thomas and Jim.
Georgina was born in Readymade on the farm on October 27, 1931, and lived there for most of her life before eventually moving to Coaldale in her later years. Georgina met and fell in love with Felix Giacchetta and on November 23, 1953, they were married. They went on to spend over 55 years together and were blessed with a daughter and later with a son-in-law who they couldn’t be more proud of. Then there are her precious grandchildren who were the joy of her life whether it was watching their sporting events and concerts, baking treats together, or making trips to the casino. She loved her family more than anything and always made sure everyone was happy and taken care of. She had immense strength and determination. As a nearly 30-year cancer survivor, she had to deal with her fair share of struggles, but she always managed to make the best of things. She was also incredibly hard working and spent decades on the farm gardening, raising chickens, and preparing delicious homemade meals and baked goods. Her genuine excitement to see you along with her generous support and constant encouragement will be greatly missed.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at the Sunny South Lodge and the Chinook Regional Hospital for the excellent care Georgina received as well as the kindness and support given to our family.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Philip Le officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 – 23 Avenue, Coaldale, AB, on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Philip Le celebrating.
Georgina will be laid to rest in a private Family Graveside in the Coaldale Community Cemetery at a later date.
