SCHIKOWSKY, Bernard

BERNARD ALBERT SCHIKOWSKY BORN: JANUARY 5, 1938 ON TO HIS NEXT ADVENTURE: AUGUST 23, 2023 BERNARD “BERNIE” ALBERT SCHIKOWSKY, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Marlene Schikowsky, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the age of 85 years.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marlene; his three children: Michelle, Stacy and Peter; his beloved grandson Kaydince; his siblings: Loretta, Tony, Bert, Louis (Shelia) and Jeanette; and his very special friend, Buddy the dog.
Born and raised on a farm near Avonlea, SK. Bernie was the second youngest child of Veronica and Peter Schikowsky. Bernie received some of his education and a great deal of life lessons at Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Sk. Bernie held a Master’s degree in Social Work and spent the majority of his career in the mental health field.
Bernie’s home life was filled with love, family, friends, golf, camping, traveling and watching his Saskatchewan Roughriders (they are never good enough, are they?).
In Bernie’s family’s eyes, he was our rock and an amazing example of strength, hard-work and the epitome of a life well-lived. While his passing is devastating, we are ever grateful for the time we spent with him and he will be forever missed.
