TERRY HANEY 1944 – 2023 Mr. Terrance “Terry” Clark Haney, and long-time resident of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on August 29, 2023, at the age of 78 years, from complications of dementia.
Terry was the first born to LeRoy and Helen Haney on December 20, 1944, in Fort Frances Ontario. In 1966, He married his sweetheart Carole Elizabeth Smith in Atikokan, Ontario. Terry went to high school in Atikokan, Ontario and then completed his heavy-duty mechanics studies in 1972, in Toronto, Ontario.
He worked at the Steep Rock iron ore mine in Atikokan in his early years. He moved to Lethbridge, Alberta with his young family in 1978, to begin his career. He worked for the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services for over 30 years. He retired in 2008. He volunteered for many years with the Lethbridge Special Olympics and Salvation Army. He was also involved in his children’s sports and activities.
Terry enjoyed time spent in nature. He loved days on the boat and evenings around the campfire, with family and friends. His walleye dinners, backyard BBQ’d burgers, and pies were enjoyed by all. He enjoyed a double rum, dancing and soaking up the sun on the beach. He also found joy in keeping a meticulous yard full of flowers, trees and a garden. Terry collected and played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and accordion. His grandsons will always treasure strumming their guitars with Papa. Terry appreciated the craftsmanship of antique clocks and had a knack for restoring them.
Terry showed genuine compassion and selflessness in caring for Carole as she struggled with complications of diabetes in her later years. He was highly regarded by his friends, co-workers and neighbours. He was thoughtful, generous, and patient and was always willing to offer a helping hand, with a smile and kind word. He was always able to find a solution to a problem and encouraged others to be confident in themselves.
He is survived by his children Robyn (Kevin) Olton and Chris (Trina) Haney; his grandchildren Spencer and Mack (Cassidy); his close family Alexa (Alex), Kassian and Aurelia, Amy (Dagan); his siblings Sandy, Randy (Sandy), Twyla (Ed), and Rusty (Candice). Terry is also survived by his very special friend Judy Harris and her family, Chris (Natalie) and their children Maren, Mason, Billie, Danica, and Karly (Jeff) and their children Halie (Michael), Joel, Hannah and Jarred.
He was predeceased by Carole, his loving wife of 37 years and siblings Rodelle, Peggy, and Tammy.

    I worked with Terry untill his retirement at the City of Lethbridge.
    Terry was a mentor and a great freind. He help me retain anger at a poisoned work place.
    Thanks Terry for the long talks.
    So not only a great mechanic but a people person. All my respect Terry.
