NOLA PEARCE September 26, 1937 ~ September 22, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Nola Dals Pearce, announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away peacefully at South Country Village in Medicine Hat on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 85 years. Nola is survived by her four children and their families: son, Bruce (Jocelyn) Macaulay and their family, Chandra (Eric Warren) and their daughter, Samantha; Craig (Sara) and their two children, Ella and Owen; daughter, Gloria Grossman and her daughter, Marla Grossman (Dave Lundquist); son, Robert ‘Bob’ (Jeanette) Macaulay and their family, Joel (Jodi) Macaulay and their two children, Jordyn and Maddox; Jodie Engbert (Adrian Hartman) and her two children, Makiya and Jaelyn; son, Darwin (Sherri-lynn) Pearce and their two children, Ty and Téa. Nola married Brian T. Pearce on November 30, 1974. They were married for 43 years before Brian passed away on September 17, 2017. Both Mom and Dad loved celebrating the special holidays, surrounded by their family. Christmas was the highlight where it was celebrated with many special traditions that we will always remember: the arrival of Santa, treasure hunts and so much more! Mom loved nothing better than making delicious meals and desserts for family dinners. She enjoyed not just the dinners, but that her family was together and having fun. Some of her favourite times were playing card games like Kaiser or Hand & Foot Canasta with family and friends. Nola’s love of baking began when she started working as a baker’s helper at a bakery in Calgary. She continued when she moved to Medicine Hat where she worked at several bakeries in the city for many years as well as at Bonanza Family Restaurant in the kitchen as a prep cook. Mom and Dad loved the cabin at Elkwater Lake. Family and friends coming out to enjoy the boat, barbequing, just sitting on the deck and of course, playing cards are all special memories. A special thank you to the staff at South Country Village, Meadow Ridge and 2N at the Medicine Hat Hospital for their exceptional care of Mom over the years. A private celebration of Nola’s life will be held.
