DORIS ELIZABETH OLIVER
October 22nd, 1923 October 31st, 2023 It is with great sadness the family of Doris Elizabeth Oliver announces her passing at the age of 100. Doris was predeceased by her parents and siblings; by her husband of 67 years, Gordon; and one of her twin sons, John. She is survived by daughters, Joan MacIntyre and Janet Oliver; son, Kent Oliver (Suzanne); five grandchildren, Hector MacIntyre, Tyler (Alanna) MacIntyre, Teaghan (Jen Unrau) Zora, Joel (Christina) Oliver-Cormier and Natalie Oliver.
She will be missed by nieces and nephews from both the Oliver and Reikie families. Doris was an accomplished singer and pianist who participated in local theatre productions for over thirty years, both as an actress and director. She held a strongly rooted Christian faith which she encouraged in her children. As a mother, she was supportive of education and life-long learning. A great cook, she could create a fabulous meal out of little. Mealtimes, especially Christmases, were opportunities for many family discussions and sharing that brought everyone closer. She and Gordon also did many family camping trips over the years (to Disneyland and Expo ’67 to name a few) which created a love of nature in all her children. As a grandmother she was beloved, and always accommodated the grandkids, especially with homemade pizzas. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the nursing and recreation staff at Masterpiece Southlands for their exemplary care of Doris over the past four and a half years.
A Graveside Interment will be announced in spring 2024. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by
