LETHA (JOHNSON) LAMB Letha Johnson Lamb passed away peacefully at Magrath, Alberta on October 31, 2023 at the age of 99. She was predeceased by her husband Reed Dalton Lamb. Letha is survived by her 5 children: Marilyn (Dennis) Dahl, Wayne (Wendy) Lamb, Wendy (Thomas) Deppe, Sheryl (Richard) Joice, and Bruce (Margo) Lamb. She will be lovingly and warmly remembered by her 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Letha was born in Barnwell, Alberta on November 13, 1923 to Leith and Myrtle (Jensen) Johnson. She was the fourth of eleven children and had a happy upbringing. She worked hard to help the family navigate farm life in the 1920’s and through the depression.
She married the love of her life, Reed Lamb, on December 28,1945, upon his discharge from the RCAF at the conclusion of WWII. They then moved to Edmonton where Letha worked and Reed attended Dental School at the University of Alberta. Their oldest daughter, Marilyn, was born in Edmonton. The remainder of the children were born in Taber, Alberta. Reed and Letha moved to Lethbridge in 1960 where they finished raising their family. Letha worked side by side with Reed at the dental office over the years. Upon retirement, Reed and Letha served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church and gospel of Jesus Christ was always central throughout Letha’s life. Shortly after Reed’s passing in 2006 Letha moved from the family home and relocated to West Lethbridge where she lived for 10 years. Her final years were spent in Magrath, Alberta until her passing.
Letha was very talented at sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting. It was always a thrill when it was your turn to get a new warm quilt. Her famous sugar cookies and treats were loved by all. She truly made her house a home and a place everyone loved to be. Her legendary Grandma Lamb Christmas Eve parties and games created wonderful family bonds and memories. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She was keenly aware of every grandchild and great grandchild. Letha truly exemplified the traits of integrity, honour, character, charity, and having her priorities in the right place.
