Gary Moore Williams Passed away November 12th, 2023 at St Michael’s Palliative Care. He was one of six children born in Raymond, Alberta to Jay and Betty (Moore) Williams. Mourning his passing are his wife Mary Spanbauer, his children Carey Spanbauer-Wilde and Michael Williams, and their family members, Chris, Aria and Elliot, and Helen. He is survived by his siblings Alan Williams, Lynn Jones, Mark Williams, Kay Ellis, and their wives and husbands Sue, Jennifer, Bob, and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Carole Snow-Court, and his brother-in-law Allan Jones.

A true Raymond Comet, Gary played every sport, loved every sport, and excelled in every sport. Basketball became the source of trophies and tributes and his gateway to higher education. He was an incredible performer. Never one to boast, he loved to play and compete and he loved the doors that opened through his athletic successes.

Gary worked for Alberta Correctional Services for over 30 years. He managed the gardens at the jail and the outside crews, he also taught carpentry to inmates and found it rewarding. Gary was a gentle giant, fondly called “Big Red”. He was friendly, kind and easygoing, unless you put salad in a sandwich. He loved food and was spoiled with Mary’s cooking for all their years together. In his passing we mourn the loss of our greatest cheerleader, husband, mentor, father, wit, and engineer. The man never stood down from a problem, nor from offering a solution. He crafted more furniture and toys, and more jokes than can be recorded in writing. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Michael’s Palliative Care or the Lethbridge Humane Society.

The service will take place at Salmon & Sons Funeral Home, 433 Stubb Ross Rd, Lethbridge, AB with a family greeting at 1:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm on Thursday, the 16th of November.

A link for the livestream will be available on the Salmon and Sons website.
