1924 ~ BERTHA BESWICK ~ 2023
Bertha Beswick of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, November 27th, 2023 at the age of 99 years. Bertha leaves to cherish her memory her children, Herb (Heather) Beswick, Larry Beswick and Greg (Susan) Beswick; grandchildren, Christina (Tyler) Wright, Curtis (Jocelyn) Beswick, Shane (Jan) Beswick, Thomas (Jamie) Beswick and Morgan Beswick; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Tanner, Ava, Liam, Wyatt, Everett, Addison, Haleigh, Casen, Max and Jackson; great-great grandchild, Aileene. Bertha was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Bertha Burgar, husband, Herbert Beswick; and 9 siblings. Bertha was born on the family farm near Cando Saskatchewan, where she was raised and graduated from high school. Following her graduation, she travelled with her mother to southern Ontario to reside with her sister Edith, where she worked in a camouflage manufacturing plant, in support of the war effort. On December 5, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart Bert, and following the war moved back to North Battleford, Saskatchewan, where Bert was employed with the Saskatchewan Livestock Pool. They eventually settled in Swift Current in 1950, where they raised their three boys, and remained there until Bert’s passing in 2007. In Bertha’s forties she took up golf and curling, and became quite accomplished, participating in many District and Provincial playdowns and tournaments. Even in her eighties she could still score under 50 for 9 holes. Bert and Bertha spent many years at their cottage at Lac Peltier and their winter home in Mesa Arizona. She particularly enjoyed visiting with friends to socialize and play cards. Bertha was a terrific homemaker who prioritized her husband and children’s needs above all else. She was caring, loving and supportive. She enjoyed organizing family get-togethers, cooking and looking after all the little details, to ensure that everyone would have a good time. She loved it when her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchild visited from time to time. In 2008 Bertha relocated to Medicine Hat to be closer to family and lived there with her beloved dog Georgie until her death. She was the heart and soul of the family and will be dearly missed. Interment will take place at a later date. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Bertha Beswick. Funeral arrangements are entrusted
