ZSOMBOR
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved brother, Larry Joseph Zsombor on January 12, 2024.  Larry was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on December 19, 1948. The family moved to Southern California in 1955.
As an avid athlete growing up in California, Larry excelled at baseball and was an outstanding competitive swimmer.  He also spent many days enjoying his favorite sport, surfing, catching waves along the coast of southern California. Along with sports, he enjoyed cars and a good car show; reminiscing about his ‘55 Chevy and love of the 409 motor always brought a smile to his face.
In 1974, Larry returned to Canada, residing in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Nanaimo, British Columbia before settling in Lethbridge, Alberta. He immersed himself in researching both local and Hungarian history. As a horse enthusiast he developed an incredible knowledge of equine health and enjoyed various local equestrian  events. Besides horses, Larry had a love for all animals, especially family pets. He was a hobby artist with a penchant for drawing. Larry eagerly embraced opportunities to spend time with family and attend social and music gatherings with friends. Always willing to lend a hand, Larry volunteered with the Hungarian Oldtimers Club, Lethbridge Seniors Citizens Organization, and various local initiatives
Having a huge heart for his family, Larry will be deeply missed by his sisters and brothers; Rose (Robert) Clemensen, Andy (Di) Zsombor, Frank (Kendy) Zsombor, Carol (James) Matthews, Patrick (Deb) Zsombor, Darlene (Peter) Dvorack, as well as his nieces and nephews.  Larry was predeceased by his parents Rose and Zoltan (Joe) Zsombor and his nephews Glen Dascomb and Scott Clemensen.
In honour of Larry, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Hungarian Oldtimers Club 410 – 2nd Ave, South Lethbridge 12:00-3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to The Lethbridge Food Bank or The Lethbridge and District Humane Society.
