Posted: February 16th, 2024 RYAN RICHARD WICKHAM April 12, 1981-February 13, 2024
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan on February 13, 2024, at the age of 42. Ryan lost his battle with cancer due to complications with his lungs. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Rick and Penny; sisters, Christine (Darren), and Brenda; nieces and nephews, Brayden, Austin, Erica, Paityn, Kallen and Ashton; grandma, Barbara Aldag; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ryan was predeceased by his infant brother; grandparents, Alex Wickham, Gerry Aldag, Pat and Robert Rabaey; and great grandparents.
Ryan was born on April 12, 1981, in Medicine Hat. Most of his schooling was done in Medicine Hat where he completed grade 9 at Medicine Hat High School. His family moved to Bonnyville, AB where he completed and received his high school diploma at Bonnyville Centralized High School. Ryan worked as a constructional welder for Bonnyville Welding for 3 years and then went on to work in the oilfield on and off for the following 20 years. His last five years were spent building his own business in the exterior residential construction industry which he was very proud of.
Growing up, Ryan enjoyed all sports but lived and breathed hockey. He was an avid bodybuilder and worked very hard to maintain a strict diet. He loved his BMW (Zimma), art, music and singing. He sang all the time and everywhere he went. The love Ryan felt for his family was always being shown in little messages and videos he would send to us all. He cherished his family and loved to make us all laugh. He was truly the best son, brother, and uncle. Ryan was funny, kind, compassionate, loving and very generous, especially to those less fortunate.
Ryan gave his life to Christ in 2015 and had a very strong relationship with Jesus (AKA: his homie). It is Ryan’s faith that kept him strong throughout his journey. We have some comfort knowing that he is now in the arms of his heavenly Father. As Ryan always said, “SHINE BRIGHT, BE THE LIGHT”.
