DORIS PARKS 1932 – 2024 Doris Helen Parks passed away, at the age of 91 years, on Sunday February 18, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and devotion to her family and friends over the many years. Doris was predeceased by her husband James “Jim”, and her sister Lillian. She leaves behind her brother Elden. Doris was born on December 19, 1932, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Her family moved to Red Deer, where she met and married Jim. Together they had four children: Wanda, Bradley, Larry (spouse Mary), and Diane (spouse Colin Caddick). There are seven grandchildren: Candace, Jared, Jeffrey, Danusia, Brian, Joey and Mitchell; and three great-grandchildren: Rennie, Rowan, and Ellis. As the kids were growing up, Doris and Jim lead the family on many adventures, including: tenting/camping, fishing trips in northern Alberta, and hauling a trailer across Canada and into the United States several times. Doris was always up to a challenge and participated in many activities like: bowling, shuffleboard (at the local community hall), and golfing. She and Jim joined a “Gourmet Club” with some friends, and they would get together on a regular basis to make dinners featuring recipes from around the world ( and test out the local “drinks” as well) – it was a good time for all. Doris was also instrumental in establishing a women’s golf league for the retired police guild in Edmonton, which they originally called “The Golf Bags”. Doris and Jim were inseparable throughout the years, and after Jim retired from the City of Edmonton Police Department they went on many road trip holidays and cruises, traveling with family and friends to far reaching places. Doris spent these last few years in St. Albert and finally in Medicine Hat. To honour her wishes, we will not be having a service, but a small family private get-together to place her ashes with Jim, at his memorial site in Red Deer.
