MARIE PEARSON September 12, 1950 ~ April 22, 2024
Marie Josephine Louise-Anne Pearson passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 73 years. Marie is survived by her companion, friend and caregiver, Diane Kondel; guardian, Bill Alles and special friend and caregiver, Amber Benoit. She had a family of caregivers who all touched her heart and provided joy and love to her life. Marie is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Cheryl) Macosky and their children: Troy (Jill) Macosky and their children, Jade and Cole; Ashley Macosky; Megan Macosky and her son, Leander; Justin Macosky and his partner, Andy Vitasa as well as many cousins and friends whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her parents, aunts and uncles. Marie spent her younger years at the Mitchener Centre in Red Deer and joined Next Step in 1998, being one of their first clients. She belonged to Core and participated in many activities with them over the years. Marie was a loving, caring, full of life lady with a great spirit who was always laughing and smiling. She was also stubborn, fearless, determined, adventurous, sassy and mischievous; playing pranks on people just to see their reaction. Marie’s interests included painting, shopping (especially for herself), walkabouts, movies, concerts, outings with her friends and yearly camping trips with Next Step. Her sports interests included swimming, bowling, horseback riding and attending events such as the Medicine Hat Stampede and Tigers games. Her travelling excursions included Hawaii, Mexico, Disneyland, Disneyworld, Las Vegas as well as many family holidays. Marie did not let her condition define her as she lived her life to the fullest, making the best of her situation especially after she was wheelchair bound.
